  • FROGS

FROGS, ‘Friends of Grasmere School’, is Grasmere’s voluntary parent teacher association. All parents of children at Grasmere are automatically members of FROGS and welcome to take part in meetings, help with events, or make suggestions for activities and how to spend the money we raise.

FROGS supports Grasmere by organising events which raise money for the school and provide an opportunity for parents to socialise. Money is spent improving school facilities and on events for children, in consultation with the Head and teachers’ representative as well as with parents involved in FROGS.

FROGS is a great way to meet other parents and contribute to school life. Please consider getting involved in any way you can, whenever you can. FROGS always needs more help.

    • 21 January - 8pm, community room via 92 Albion Road
    • 6 March – after assembly in staff room
    • 29 April – 8pm, community room
    • 12 June – after assembly in staff room
    • AGM 16 September 2009 at 8pm in school hall

    Events

Regular FROGS events include the autumn and spring Jumble sales, the winter and summer fairs, sale of Christmas cards, winter and summer raffle, garden days, and usually at least one other evening social event in addition to supporting the school’s international and music evenings. Examples include Quiz nights, barn dances, a Promises auction etc.

    Organisation

FROGS is a registered charity. The Chair, Secretary and Treasurer are elected at an AGM every year, held one evening in September. The AGM is also a good time to come up with plans for the coming year. Also, for each class year it is good to have at least one, if not two or three, parents willing to be the FROGS class reps. Class reps encourage other parents to get involved, act as a point of contact and help organise a class stall at the summer fair.

    Spending

In the past year FROGS have spent the following:

    • £330 on extending the cycle stands
    • £430 on bark for the garden
    • £175 on school trip to panto
    • £930 on lighting in the infant playground
    • £750 on English pocket opera
    • £500 on drumming
    • £500 on Samba
    • £210 on trumpets
    • £300 on school visit to Ashlyns
    • plus smaller amounts on garden plants and sundries.

and we’ve committed to spending £150 on supporting bikes to be available to kids and £1000 on upgrade of infant playground equipment when it happens.
